The main trailhead for Alderfer / 3 Sisters Park, and the easiest access trailhead for the south section (Evergreen Mountain)
Weather and Seasons
The Alderfer trails can be run year round. Dense tree coverage on Evergreen Mountain typically means its well-protected from heavy snowdrifts, but can take a while to dry out.
Driving Directions
The main parking lot is on Buffalo Park Road, about 2 miles from downtown Evergreen.
Running Routes
On Thursday evenings, the south route is a loop with a cherry on top. From the main trailhead on Buffalo Park Road, following the Evergreen Mountain East trail up to the junction with the Summit Trail. Run the out & back to the summit, then descend on the West trail to the meadows, and follow the Ranch View Trail back to the parking lot. The full route is approximately 6.9 miles. Skipping the summit out & back shortens the route to 4.5mi.
On Thursday nights, DTR has different routes at each run. The different routes are designed so that we can accommodate runners of different speeds and still start/finish at about the same time. See more info on choosing the appropriate route for you.
